Research, education, and collaboration in the field of addiction

Center for Education and Research on Addiction (CERA) is an interdisciplinary research center at the University of Gothenburg working to strengthen and develop research and education in the field of addiction.

CERA focuses on how biological, psychological and social factors interact and explain why certain individuals develop addiction. Also in focus are the consequences of the addiction both to the individual and their surroundings. CERA researchers are particularly interested in matters concerning public health, especially preventive interventions.

CERA has an excellent scientific competence in dependence research among its members. For example, researchers in CERA have been awarded with honours of excellence in external international evaluations of their research.
CERA will work on a long-term basis to strengthen and develop research and education in the area of addiction by:

• Stimulating and supporting preventive and patient/client-centered research.
• Creating opportunities and offering education and life-long learning for those working with addiction.
• Developing and implementing evidence-based methods in the area of addiction.
